Splashes of Lemonade

In June we had our annual Lemonade stand to benefit the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation to help find a cure for childhood cancer. This is one of our families FAVORITE summer activities. We have so much fun getting all set up, making lemonade and baked goods, and watching the generous givers open up their wallets and hearts to our children. This year, we raised a grand total of $1400!
I would encourage your family to host a stand. It is super easy and the ALSF foundation is so kind to work with.

We also embarked on a new summer activity, or should I say committed our summer, to our clubs swim team. Campbell worked hard all winter to learn how to swim and enjoyed competing in meets against other local teams. She did get to experience for the first time what true competition is and that you don't always get a blue ribbon just because you tried real hard. I think that it is good that kids understand that everything is not always "sugar coated". None the less, she had a fun time, met some new friends, and has informed us that she needs a break from Fall swimming. We will gladly grant her a break...after all, she is only 5!

Summer In Review

All roads are leading to the big "K" for us this year...yep, Kindergarten! So, after taking the whole summer off from blogging, I am now going ot provide you with a weeks worth of posts about our fantastic summer!!! Hang on, you are in for a ride. We have been ALL over the place. But, as you will notice, there are smiles all over the faces of two special children.

First stop...
Dance Recital

This year we were Pajama Ballerina's...interesting I know. I tell you what, we are on year two of NO tu-tu and I really want one!!! After our brazillian rhumba last year, I sure hope that we can have a true "ballet" costume next year.

Second stop...
JUNIOR GOLF

Our son really wanted to play a sport this summer and is still too young for baseball, so we took a 'swing' at golf. Let me just say, it was comical considering that I am the one that would take him and I know NOTHING about the game. *Click on the picture to enlarge the captions.

Tomorrow, our tour will consist of swimming and lemonade stands!
